Closure

My Last Day in the Classroom. During my time in the class I got everyones pictures and told them what they were for and that today would be my last day. They all seem a little sad but they cheered up. After that I went around helping them with their assignment for that day. When it was time to go when I started to walk out the door they all said bye to me and I felt happy.

Everyone Gets A Little Nostalgic

At the beginning of the year I was pretty nervous about being in an intern class. Soon enough though I learned that it wasn't that bad and I was quite calm while in the classroom. I will miss my students but I will always remember them.

After get some experience in a classroom I that I can definitely become a teacher but I don't think I want to. I just feel that I am more interested in going into another occupation. I may someday choose that I want to return back to the classroom but for now I just feel that its not my lifelong calling, at least for the future that I wish to seek.

Smart Techology

iPad Apps in the classroom.

1. Educreations Interactive Whiteboard
This is an iPad Application that lets you create lessons, you can animate the so that it moves along  with you and the class.

2. Textbooks

This Application allows you to view your textbook the iPad. It would allow you to be able to only have one thing out at a time leaving you with less clutter, you can write notes to the side of the page and then later you can organize your notes into flashcards in the the same application.

Smartboard Lessons in the classroom.

1. Jeopardy

This Smartboard Lesson Template will allow you to be able have fun wiht your students while you also are reviewing for their next test.

I am posting resources for 5th Grade and up but I think that the Educreation Interactive Whiteboard App would be great for any grade.

Teaching Students To Be Financially Literate

Here is an article on teaching students to be financially literate and how it pays off for the children.
  •  I feel that I have a pretty good understanding that needs need to come before wants because if I didn't have very good math skills I would over spend, and go outside of my budget and then could end up homeless.
  • I might feel a little bit better about my financial future if I had been given a class to help prepare me for it. I know that life isn't perfect and that I will have rough patches to get through were money would be tight.

What teachers want parents to know

1. What do teachers need parents to understand?

Teachers need parents to understand that teachers know what they are doing. Parents should not go against them and what they are trying to do in their classroom, if a student explains that something wrong is happening in the classroom they should consult with the teacher.

2. Parents as partners rather than prosecutors...

In this article it explains that parents shouldn't over react, they should take the nessecary measures and speak with the teacher, there is always two sides to a story. Today's parents are known as Helicopter-Parents and they often overreact and that causes people to lose their jobs when they come ranting to the school district.

The High Cost of College

1. How do I plan to pay for college?
    a) I plan to try and get as many Scholarships and get student loans to pay for my college Tuition.
2. Have I done enough to prepare for college?
    a) I haven't really done very much with preparing for college yet.
3. Have I applied for the FAFSA?
    a) No not yet but I will get to it really soon.

According to Barack Obama he is saying that colleges need to start clarifying what their students are paying for. Why the tuition is going up and if its going to go up then the reasons need to be good. The colleges need to provide what their statistics are for their graduates getting jobs right out of school so that they know they are going to be successful and not become scum of the Earth that feeds of of welfare from the government.

Creativity Counts

1. What is Creativity?

The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.

2. Why does Creativity matter in Education?

Some students can't learn in the old way of taking notes straight off the board, they need new ways to learn. Students need to be creative and need to be encouraged to continue to be creative. If people weren't creative then everyone were be the same there would be no diversity in ideas.

3. Describe ways you see creativity in your classrooms.

Drawing, putting answers into your own words, collaborating in groups.

Digital Learning Day

My choice of a web 2.0 tool for the classroom would be Edmodo. Edmodo is the total classroom solution and its even free, with this teachers can basically create a classroom on the internet. Teachers can post notes, assignments, quizzes, and even grade them once they are submitted.

Each student has a, what I like to call a desk which is known as their "Digital Library" were the students can upload what they need for their assignments and the teacher can even put things into it for the students convenience.

This tool is sort of like Facebook it is known as the "The Secure Social Learning Network for Teachers and Students".

Make It Happen In 2012!!!

I am a Junior at Richland High School so I have one year and 18 weeks before I graduate from Richland. Last semester I had some habits that weren't very good ones and I am going to though them out the window, to help me make better choices.

1. Staying Up Late...  I am going to stop saying up late on school nights. When I stay up late I come to school tired and potentially more likely to be late to my classes. Without staying up late I will better succeed in my

2. Taking Notes...  I am going to start taking better notes in my classes that need it. When I take notes they are often jumbled words thrown together and are uninterpretable by anyone, including me. With better note taking skills I will remember the new material covered in class.

3. Procrastinating...  I procrastinate most of the time when I'm given a project or assignment that I have a far ahead deadlines. This is a bad habit that must be broke and will help take off stress that is built up at the end of the deadline.

The Ideal Classroom

Well my ideal classroom would be a combination of what the article said that teachers are starting to do to their lesson and teaching across the country. I would love to have a my students to go home and watch/listen to the teachers' lectures and come to class and do their work and get one on one help with the teacher. I would also love to have my classroom arranged into a "Starbucks Classroom" I think that it would help the students feel comfortable with themselves and it would especially help students that don't have very good social skills.
